The Truth About Insurance published a guide for Canadian vehicle owners on what to do to keep their home and car coronavirus-free.
Dealers can use the information, which includes expert advice from D. Gilson, PhD, — a published author and professor, and Joel Ohman, CEO of 360 Quote, to ensure employees are following proper health and safety protocols — and to connect with consumers about the COVID-19 crisis.
The guide includes comments from Consumer Reports, a U.S. non-profit organization, which indicates that “A car’s interior is less durable than, say, a kitchen counter or bathroom sink.” They offer some suggestions on how to protect those surfaces without damaging them.
“Whatever you do, don’t use bleach or hydrogen peroxide on the inside of your car…they will likely damage your car’s upholstery,” said Consumer Reports. “And do not use ammonia-based cleaners on car touch screens, as they can damage their anti-glare and anti-fingerprint coatings.”
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises using cleaning products with alcohol solutions of at least 70 per cent.
The guide also includes tips for home cleaning, definitions of social distancing and sheltering in place, telemedicine apps, and more.
