Senior high school students in the Greater Toronto Area, currently enrolled in automotive programs, will compete at the 21st annual Toronto Automotive Technology Competition (TATC) on February 12 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
“Every year, the students blow us away with their technical knowledge, problem solving skills, and their enthusiasm,” said Todd Bourgon, Executive Director of the Trillium Automobile Dealers Association (TADA). “Ontario’s auto industry would greatly benefit from having these young people consider joining our sector when they are done with their studies.”
The competition is organized and presented by TADA in partnership with Cars and Jobs, with the goal of promoting to students the long-term career opportunities that exist in Canada’s auto sector.
“We hope that an event like this inspires young people to consider a long-term career in the auto sector,” said Bourgon. “Whether you are looking for a career as a technician, in sales, finance, IT, or marketing, auto dealerships are a great place to look for motivating, well-paying jobs, and our Cars and Jobs platform helps connect job-seekers with these opportunities.”
TATC takes place the same day as the CADA Summit and one day prior to Media Day of the Canadian International AutoShow (CIAS), all located in the same building. The competition will be held in the North Building, Room 205/206 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Students will form two-person teams and compete for a chance to represent their school (and TADA) at the prestigious National Automotive Technology Competition in New York City in April.
