“The wave of the automotive future is electric.” That’s according to a statement from the Canadian International AutoShow (CIAS), which welcomed more than 40 electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles at this year’s event.
Of those more than 40 vehicles, 14 fully electric and plug-in hybrid models were available for test drives around the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Ontario. The other vehicles were on the show floor, presented by the automakers.
“With each passing year, electric vehicle technology and infrastructure improves, and EVs are more prominent on Canadian roads than ever,” said Jason Campbell, General Manager of the AutoShow. “The EV Test Drive program at the AutoShow is a great opportunity to get a feel for driving the wave of the future.”
The EV Test Drive program, presented by Plug’n Drive, is available to consumers attending the auto show and runs from both the North and South buildings. The North building will allow registered attendees to test vehicles such as the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Nissan Leaf, Volkswagen e-Golf, Kia SOUL, Hyundai Kona and IONIQ. The South building offers test drives of the Audi e-tron and Q5 TFSI e, Hyundai Kona, and Chevrolet Bolt.
“Every automaker in the world has an EV on the road right now, or is close to releasing one, and many have committed to electrifying their entire line-ups over the next five to 10 years,” said Cara Clairman, President and CEO of Plug’n Drive.
The CIAS public opening days are from February 14-23.
