Toyota donates $150K to support youth

The Toyota Canada Foundation recently announced a $150,000 investment in Let’s Talk Science to support education outreach for Canada’s youth.

Specifically, the investment will support national science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education — including access to bilingual, free, hands-on STEM-based programming through Let’s Talk Science.

“In a rapidly changing, complex world it is critical that we ensure all children and youth remain curious, ask questions and have the skills required to participate, thrive and lead,” said Bonnie Schmidt, President of Let’s Talk Science. “Toyota recognizes that Let’s Talk Science experiences support talent development required for Canada’s future success.”

Part of the goal is to engage more young people across Canada that are underrepresented in STEM, such as girls, Indigenous youth, rural and remote young people. It’s also meant to engage Canadian youth dealing with socioeconomic challenges.

Another investment of $50,000 was announced by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada to help grow Let’s Talk Science Outreach program in Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Woodstock, and London, Ont.

“Through donations like Toyota’s, Let’s Talk Science can continue to increase Outreach program delivery nationally and regionally to youth, including Indigenous, rural, remote and low socio-economic communities,” said the Toyota Canada Foundation in its news release.
