Edmonton-based automotive group Go Auto announced last week that they are donating $10 for every vehicle sold to the Kids with Cancer Society. The campaign started July 1, 2019 and with the company on track to sell more than 50,000 vehicles a year, the total donation is expected to exceed $3 million over a five-year timeframe.
The Kids with Cancer Society provides programs and services at no cost to children with cancer and their families in the Northwest Territories and Northern Alberta areas. The society works with families from the time a child is diagnosed and supports them throughout treatment and beyond by providing educational and financial support as well as access to counselling, research and clinical programs.
“Rather than feel alone during treatment, the children and their families are welcomed into a community, provided with incredible support, and reminded that they are more than their diagnosis,” Go Auto president Jason Smith said in a recent press release.
“This is an organization that means a lot to us. So, we thought it was time to take it to the next level by asking the 50,000 customers we have the privilege of serving each year to join us in this effort. We want to make a substantial commitment as a company, but we also want to make it easy for our customers to give back and help raise as much money as possible,” Smith said.
Go Auto is the largest automotive network in Western Canada, owning and operating more than 40 dealerships, half of which are located in and around the Edmonton area. In addition to their commitment to the Kids with Cancer Society, Go Auto donates vehicles to more than ten charities and has also created a program called Fuels the Schools, in which hundreds of the company’s employees cook and deliver over 80,000 healthy meals to Edmonton school children every year.
