Connected car solution Raven targets auto fleets

Raven, a connected car solution, is expanding its safety-enhancement offerings to include automotive fleets.

Its device is meant to help both drivers and fleet operators monitor road conditions and therefore improve auto security. But the company has expanded its product to include new features and capabilities that range from facial recognition to security advancements, and more.

“In-vehicle technologies can reduce accidents and speeding by up to 97 per cent. Leveraging the next generation of connected in-vehicle devices can unite fleet owners, their vehicles and their drivers,” said Russell Ure, CEO of Klashwerks and maker of Raven. “Furthermore, devices like Raven can also help fleet owners improve fleet management oversight at a fraction of the cost versus traditional tracking technologies.”

The new capabilities include features like the previously mentioned facial recognition, which can be used to detect drivers and passengers — and to identify unauthorized occupants. Its Dispatch Messaging displays short messages directly on Raven’s screens to help reduce the distraction of a cell phone. And Geofencing Technology and Tracking; Mobile and Web Fleet Monitoring; and Wi-Fi Hotspot are also among the new features.

Automotive fleet owners can also expect telematics and reporting, and advanced security and connectivity (smart sensors, live-to-cloud video) to be offered.

The updates will be unveiled at CES 2019 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
