Well-known car dealer, Ted Knight dies at 78

Ted Knight (1939 – 2017)

Ted Knight, a well-known car dealer with dealerships in western Canada who was very active in his community and served faithfully as Chairman of the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA), passed away Friday Oct. 13, 2017. He was 78 years old.

In an obituary, his family writes that Ted “succumbed to the cancer that he had silently and valiantly fought against all odds for five years, until his tank ran out of gas.”

Ted is survived by his first wife Marlene; his wife of the last 24 years, Suzanne; his children, Tracey (Brock) Szakacs, Kevin (Erinn), and Kyle. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Erik, Irelynd, and Cambri Szakacs, Chloe, Carter, Caden, and Charlie Knight.

The family is having a memorial service for Ted at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina, Sask, on Tuesday October 17 at 2:00 p.m. Knight’s Crestview Chrysler dealership is closing at 1 p.m. on October 17 in his honour. Friends may wish to make a donation in Ted’s memory to the Salvation Army in Regina, Sask.

Ted built the Knight Automotive Group, and working with his children, created a network of 15 dealerships in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba.
