Dealership helps local food bank

Northern Honda has donated a Honda Civic to the North Bay Food Bank to support its mission of feeding those less fortunate in the Northeastern Ontario community. The gift, valued at over $10,000, is available to the food bank for the next two years and includes insurance and maintenance costs.

“We’ll be able to save costs on wear and tear on staff vehicles, and we’ll have a very visible “mobile billboard” to keep our message front and centre in the community,” said North Bay Food Bank Board Chair, Katharine Strang, in a news release.

The donation was made during the grand opening of Northern Honda’s new, state-of-the-art location, “a $6-million dollar investment and a show of confidence in the city of 54,000 people, with a catchment area of approximately 90,000 residents,” according to the release.

“We chose to donate a Honda Civic to the North Bay Food Bank for two years, to help them with collecting food and having a promotional vehicle to fill with food at community events,” said Owner Operator and Dealer Principal David Barber.

More than 200 guests, including the city’s mayor, member of federal parliament, member of provincial parliament and Dave Gardner, President of Honda Canada, attended the ribbon cutting ceremony on April 13.
