Vancouver Community College fundraiser targets auto training

Vancouver Community College is putting automotive training in the spotlight at its annual Flourish fundraising evening next month, as service departments across the industry wrestle with technician shortages and increasingly complex vehicles.

Flourish 2026 will be held Thursday, March 5 at VCC’s Broadway Campus at 1120 E. 7th Ave., starting at 7 p.m. According to the college’s event page, the fundraiser supports hands-on education and student success, with this year’s proceeds directed toward training needs connected to the Centre for Clean Energy and Automotive Innovation.

The event is expected to draw alumni, community supporters and local leaders. VCC said the evening will include food and beverage stations hosted by chefs, many of them VCC alumni, along with opportunities to connect with business and community representatives.

For the automotive community, the tie-in is practical. As vehicles add more electrification, software and advanced diagnostics, training institutions need up-to-date equipment and facilities to prepare graduates for the realities of modern repair work. VCC’s Centre for Clean Energy and Automotive Innovation is intended to expand that kind of industry-ready training.

Flourish is positioned as a way to support students pursuing careers that require hands-on experience, including automotive and related clean-technology fields, at a time when hiring and retention pressures remain high across the sector.

More information and tickets are available through Vancouver Community College’s Flourish 2026 event page.
