Hyundai Canada’s charitable arm Hyundai Hope on Wheels, along with 225 Hyundai dealers nationwide, are donating $100,000 to the Children’s Health Foundation in London, Ontario, in honour of Paediatric Cancer Awareness Month.
Furthermore, the OEM said Finch Hyundai pledged an extra $40,000, bringing the total contribution to $140,000 — all in support of paediatric oncology care at Children’s Hospital in London. All of the donations are meant to support the hematology and oncology programs specifically, which provides specialized care to children and youth across Southwestern Ontario. This includes satellite clinics in Kitchener and Windsor.
“Children’s Hospital has long been a pillar of hope and healing for families across Southwestern Ontario, and I’ve seen firsthand how deeply its care touches lives,” said Jeff Hewitt, Director of Connected Digital Experience at Hyundai Auto Canada, in a statement.
He added that, through Hyundai Hope on Wheels and the support of their dealer network, “we’re proud to help ensure that children facing cancer in this region receive the specialized care they need, and that their families continue to feel the strength of a community that stands behind them.”
The hospital in London provides over 4,500 visits every year for children, through their clinic and inpatient treatment. Within its Paediatric Oncology Program, more than 800 children are served through both clinic visits and inpatient care. One hundred and fifty children are currently in active treatment.
As part of the OEM’s tradition a Handprint Ceremony inviting children and families impacted by cancer was included so they could leave their handprints on the Hyundai Hope car.
