Turo expands operations into the Yukon

Dealers following the progress of car-sharing marketplaces in Canada will be interested to discover that Turo has expanded its operations into the Yukon.

In a news release, the company said the gateway to the Yukon, Whitehorse and the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport has seen a boost in tourism in recent years. This, they say, has led to an increased demand for flexible transportation options in an area where car rental options are limited.

Turo said local hosts can fill that gap and support the community. “Bringing Turo to the Yukon is about more than growing our operations but about fueling new income opportunities for Yukoners,” said Bassem El-Rahimy, Vice President of Turo Canada, in a statement.

To increase use, the company will offer a $500 incentive for the first 50 vehicles listed on Turo in the Yukon.

Turo has grown significantly since it launched, operating in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and France. In Canada, it spans from British Columbia to Newfoundland and Labrador.

“Whether you drive a sedan, SUV, or truck, your vehicle can help meet demand from travelers while putting extra cash in your pocket,” said Turo. “Meanwhile, entrepreneurial hosts manage multiple vehicles, operating as small business owners and significantly increasing revenue streams.”

As affordability concerns loom heavy on many consumers, dealers may find Turo’s “flexible transportation” options are gaining traction with more and more people.
