Bridgestone and LanzaTech work towards sustainable tire recycling

With more than one billion tires disposed of annually, Bridgestone Americas and the startup LanzaTech have confronted the issue by announcing that they are developing a recycling process that could substantially reduce the carbon released when tires are burned or sent to landfills. The project also includes a process to decarbonize the production of new tires. The new partnership will convert old tires into synthetic rubber that can be used in production of new tires, as well as be converted to renewable bio-fuels such as ethanol.
