NADAguides reveals best-in-segment in annual report

NADAguides has just released its NADAguides Annual Best Car Buys for 2011.

The report is based on an in-depth scoring system developed by NADAguides using criteria that matters most to consumers including price, first-year depreciation value, fuel efficiency, warranty coverage, and NHTSA safety ratings.

For 2011, Honda had the best spread with five models in four different categories. Additionally, Kia, Toyota, and Chevrolet each had three models across multiple categories.

However, Toyota and Kia were the only two manufacturers with top vehicles in more than one category.

Mitsubishi saw its first inclusion in the report, with the 2011 Outlander Sport leading the sports segment.

Import models saw a marked improvement in their overall inclusion of the vehicles in the report. Last year imports accounted for 62 percent of the vehicles in the report, this year they swallowed up almost ¾ of the total vehicles at 74 per cent.

Of those import models, 55 per cent were Japanese, 25 per cent were Korean models, and the remaining 20 per cent were European manufacturers.

Interestingly, Korean manufacturers took 10 per cent of the share from Japanese manufacturers. Last year, 65 per cent were comprised of Japanese manufacturers while only 15 per cent were Korean.

European models remained consistent year-over-year at 20 per cent of the import models.

Troy Snyder, Director of Product Development at NADAguides said, “ Our analysts have developed this helpful guideline of criteria, cross-referencing information across 2011 models, which automatically calculate vehicles that qualify as best buys out there. It won’t get any easier for consumers today!”
