As the first mass market electric vehicle with an extended range and low price, the Chevy Bolt EV is seen by many as an auto industry game changer. Its reputation is further enhanced with the recent news that it has been named 2017 Car of the Year by our editorial colleagues at Motor Trend.
They evaluated the Bolt EV in six categories, including advancement in design, engineering excellence, efficiency, safety, value and performance of its intended function.
The Bolt EV has an EPA estimated range of 238 miles on a full charge, and a suggested retail price of $37,495 (US), including destination and freight charges. Electronic precision shift, a Regen on Demand, steering wheel paddle and a 10.2-inch diagonal colour touch screen are standard.
It’s the fourth Motor Trend award for Chevrolet in three years, and “a great honour for the entire Chevrolet team,” says Alan Batey, president of GM North America and Global Chevrolet brand chief.
