The Dilawri Group and about 50 of its employees in Québec recently participated in a day of tree planting as part of the initial phase of the Dilawri Forest. The dealer group, which represents 82 dealerships across the country, just launched a program to offset CO2 emissions stemming from vehicles sold.
In a news release, the Dilawri Group said employees from its dealerships gathered at Ferme Duroseau, in St-Lin in the Laurentians, and planted the first trees of the Dilawri Forest. (The forest will eventually have more than 800 trees.)
The company said it is now committed to the fight against climate change through a “major CO2 emissions compensation program.” And that every month, a different Dilawri franchise dealership in the greater Montreal area will offer “GHG emissions compensation for the first year of use of each new vehicle sold.”
The group teamed up with Carbone Québec as part of the program, which will calculate the ecological impact of new vehicles sold over one year. Dilawri will then provide them with the financial resources to “neutralize this impact” by planting trees.
“Gasoline and hybrid vehicles will see their emissions offset through carbon credits (tree planting), while electric vehicles will see the environmental impact of batteries offset through biodiversity credits (restoration of natural environments),” they said.
The dealer group added that consumers who are concerned about the environment can select a vehicle knowing that Dilawri’s program is helping to manage the issue with its new tree planting program.
