Quebec dealers open up parts and service

Dealers in Quebec may feel a sense of victory, if not, reassurance, on April 15 as their parts and service departments re-open to resume repair and maintenance work on vehicles.

Canadian auto dealer called several dealerships across the province this morning to discover that many are busy preparing to open, and buzzing with activity. Norman J Herbert, Vice President at Groupe Park Avenue, wrote on LinkedIn that his team is preparing to welcome customers back progressively.

“Park Avenue is ready to RISE UP!” he wrote. “New strict sanitary and contactless measures have been put in place. Thanks to everyone who waited patiently on the phone to be served this morning. We promise to get to everyone as quickly as possible.”

The CCAQ, otherwise known as La Corporation des concessionnaires automobiles du Québec, worked with the provincial government to design health and safety protocols at dealerships for parts and maintenance so they can re-open for the spring season for more than just emergency service needs, according to Montreal’s french-language media La Presse.

Quebec implemented strict measures on what it considered essential and non-essential services as the number of COVID-19 cases soared in March. The province has not yet reached its peak, but dealerships that implement the new safety protocols can now reawaken from their temporary hibernation to service customers.

As of April 15, mid-morning, there are 14,860 confirmed cases of COVID‑19 in Quebec.
