In an effort to counter perceptions surrounding the drawbacks related to driving an electric vehicle and boost sales, CAA-Quebec held the Electric Vehicle Show between May 26-28 at Place Bonaventure. Through presentations, an EV driving simulator and CAA-Quebec automotive experts, members of the public had the chance to inquire about the financial, environmental and driving performance aspects associated with EVs, said a news release.
“Electric vehicles are gaining in popularity, and they’re increasingly well suited to our lifestyles,” said Sophie Gagnon, CAA-Quebec’s Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs in the release.
Gagnon added that she believes the EV show would convince many motorists to adopt electric vehicles, “which are the way of the future.”
The show emphasized the cost-savings roles of government purchase rebates for EVs, reduced maintenance costs and lower energy costs.
“Got range anxiety? Did you know the vast majority of commuters travel only 60 km per day, on average, to and from work?” stated the release, adding that a plug-in electric vehicle can cover that distance, “even if it’s minus 30°C.”
Other reasons to purchase EVs and PEVs, according to CAA-Quebec, is their ability to accelerate instantly, making these types of vehicles suitable for city driving, as well as the quietness of the vehicle for passengers, few or no trips to the gas station and no oil changes in the case of PEVs.
