Toyota and Porsche take top resale honours

Toyota and Porsche topped the winners’ lists in this year’s Kelley Blue Book Best Resale Value awards. Toyota claimed four 2017 model-year winners and earned top honours for Best Resale Value Brand — a designation it last received in 2014. Porsche won the Best Resale Value Luxury Brand for the first time, with three model winners.

The awards recognize resale vehicles for their projected retained value through the initial five year ownership period. Winners in 22 categories were announced last week, including General Motors, which had seven models taking honours for the Chevrolet and GMC brands. Honda had four model winners and Subaru, last year’s best brand winner, had four.

Lexus, last year’s best luxury brand winner also had four winning models this year and is the only other luxury brand in addition to Porsche on the list.

“Reflective of the market overall, the majority of the Top 10 Best Resale Value vehicles this year are trucks and SUVs, with the exception of the Subaru XRX, which is further testament to the strength these segments will carry in the future,” says Eric Ibara, director of residual values for Kelley Blue Book.
