AutoPlanet Automotive Group is establishing a stronger presence in Southern Ontario after acquiring Performance Auto Group.
Based in Niagara, Ont., Performance Auto Group — the largest automotive group in Niagara — services nine dealerships and carries 16 brands across the Niagara region, along with a large used car operation, two collision centres, and a detail centre.
With the acquisition of Performance, Toronto-based AutoPlanet now has 23 dealerships under its belt across Southern Ontario that includes nine in Brampton, and others in Oakville, Brantford, Orangeville, Bolton, St. Catherines and Grimsby.
John Mann, who established Performance Auto Group in 1964, said: “The sale of Performance Auto Group to AutoPlanet Automotive Group means future growth, which will benefit our employees and guests, the City of St. Catherines, and the Niagara region.”
“John and Cam built their businesses on the same foundation as our company, hiring great people and treating their valued clients with respect,” said Glen Alizadeh, AutoPlanet President, who owns and operates the business along with his family members. His father Sam founded the business in Toronto in 1959.
AutoPlanet said it will adopt “Performance Auto Group” as its new corporate identity, but will retain “AutoPlanet” for its stand-alone used car dealerships.
