AutoTrader.ca partnered with London Dynamics, a company focused on 3D product visualization and augmented reality, to launch AutoTrader Pivot: an immersive and interactive online car shopping experience.
The automotive marketplace leveraged London Dynamics’ AR technology to generate interactive 3D visualizations of vehicles for automotive manufacturers and auto retailers. In a news release, London Dynamics Founder and CEO Michael Valdsgaard said the goal is to make online car shopping more “immersive, intuitive, and transparent.”
“Our collaboration with AutoTrader Canada is a strategic synergy aimed at supercharging the online car buying journey, through a focus on integrating 3D and AR visualization into Canadian online platforms to allow potential buyers to have a detailed look at vehicles, just like in a physical dealership showroom,” he said in a statement.
The multidimensional models are meant to provide consumers with the ability to explore the vehicles in full and fine detail, including through a 3D exterior and interior view.
“AutoTrader Pivot directly aligns with our mission of helping Canadians buy and sell cars, quickly and with confidence, by delivering the automotive retailer showroom to any device, through an immersive and interactive car shopping experience,” said Benoit Laforce, General Manager of AutoTrader Media, in a statement.
AutoTrader said the partnership will help boost its position in Canada within the automotive industry, in addition to signalling the advancement of 3D visualization and AR technology in the car buying journey.
