Cox Automotive optimistic about the wholesale auction business
Nothing succeeds like success, as they say, and Cox Automotive Canada showed the company is confident and well positioned at Manheim Edmonton.
Cox acquired full ownership of Manheim Source Edmonton after a mutually beneficial three-year term as a partner, and celebrated with an official grand opening party on April 12, 2016.
The enormous space combines offices and warehouse, and a showroom for the constantly-rotating stock of remarketed vehicles that pass through the company’s expanded footprint into western Canada.
An atmosphere of optimism ran throughout the crowd, a feel of the potential growth the new owner is bringing to the table, with its extensive network of inventory and expertise in connecting the right buyers with the right sellers for wholesale remarketing of vehicles.
“The different facets we have available for connecting clients with customers, and the range of products we can offer to either end of the spectrum help lower risk and bolster confidence on both sides,” said Don Wallace, GM of Manheim Edmonton.
Maria Soklis, President of Cox Automotive Canada, echoed that sentiment, pointing to the cutting edge digital tools Manheim provides. That includes apps for Android and iOS devices, for example, so that clients can attend an auction in real time.
“Manheim continues to offer a full-suite package to our customers, and with the expansion into new (western) markets and our connections North America wide, it is poised to grow,” said Soklis.
Canadian auto dealer spoke with many attendees at the event, including dealers, finance partners and employees, who said they were optimistic about the facility since Cox assumed full ownership.
Josh Spurrell, the company’s head of security, said he likes what he’s seen since the acquisition, in terms of efficiency, general corporate culture and an overall feel of progress.
Participation in Manheim’s wholesale auctions is for dealers-only (AMVIC members, specifically), and live auctions are held at the Edmonton location (12866 153st) on Thursdays.
