Dealer Intelligence names sales strategist Barry Baker as VP

Barry Baker

Sales strategist Barry Baker has been appointed Vice President of Canada-based Dealer Intelligence, where he will lead the company’s transition from boutique service provider to scalable cloud platform.

Dealer Intelligence is known for booking dealer appointments. It has recently enjoyed a surge in demand for its agent-first platform. In its announcement, the company said Baker helped double revenues from Fortune 500 accounts and transformed legacy OEMs into lucrative niche leaders. They hired him at a pivotal moment, as it deals with higher demand for its AI-augmented capabilities and an upcoming software-as-a-service (SaaS) model.

“Our business is about putting people together… the people who want to buy cars, and the salespeople at the dealership,” said Vic Kovacs, Founder of Dealer Intelligence, in a statement. “Barry understands that human element better than anyone. He’s here to help us scale up responsibly, and build a future where tech works for humans, rather than instead of them.”

Baker enters his new role with decades of experience across B2B and B2C sectors. This includes big-box retail, healthcare technology, and auto retail. He started developing intelligent scheduling systems more than 30 years ago in the healthcare sector.

“There are definitely some similarities,” said Baker. “But in this environment, the hard part is getting someone to say, ‘Yes, I’ll come in.’ And that’s why I’m so excited about Dealer Intelligence… because we take the guesswork out of that moment, which can challenge even veteran sales professionals.”

Based on the company, Baker is focused on developing strategic partnerships and expanding into new markets. Dealer Intelligence also plans to release its platform as a cloud application for dealerships that run in-house business development centres. They plan to release it later this year.
