Shawn Leibold, Director of Industry Relations for Reynolds and Reynolds, was recently selected by the company to fill a vacant seat on the board of directors for the Standards for Technology in Automotive Retail (STAR).
STAR is an automotive information technology standards organization. Its board was restructured and reduced to nine members in 2013, split between OEMs, tech providers, and dealers. Leibold was selected to fill the seat on the board as part of a special election. He will finish the remaining one-year term from the original three-year one for his seat.
“I’m honoured to be asked to take on this role and look forward to helping move the organization forward as it continues to impress upon the industry the need for a common set of standards,” said Leibold in a statement. “We must continue to develop those standards, so stakeholders can leverage efficiency, speed, and agility to provide better customer experience outcomes.”
Leibold has collaborated with STAR members such as OEM executives, dealer principals, representatives from the National Automotive Dealers Association (NADA), and other tech providers as part of the organization’s Technology Committee, according to Reynolds.
“As a former board member of STAR, Shawn steps into this role seamlessly and provides a wealth of DMS insights which are vital to the future development of the STAR Standards,” said JP Garvey, Chairman of STAR Standards and Dealer Principal of the Garvey Auto Group, in a statement. “It’s great to see that the members recognize the importance of this critical insight as STAR moves into 2024 and beyond.”
