Mexico considers tariffs to combat “discriminatory” U.S. EV tax credit

The Biden Administration’s proposed U.S. electric vehicle tax credit, which Inside EVs said would provide an additional “$4,500 for union-produced U.S. electric cars,” has Mexico considering tariffs as a way to combat what it calls a discriminatory tax credit. Inside EVs said Mexico is “following suit with Canada in an effort to encourage the U.S. government to reconsider” its potential credit—which is opposed by OEMs like BMW, Daimler, Honda, Hyundai, Tesla, and Toyota.
