The Équité Association released its list of top 10 stolen vehicles across Canada, putting the popular Ford F-150 in the number one slot.
“Regardless of the type of vehicle, auto theft is a serious threat to public safety and continues to affect our local communities coast to coast and crosses international borders,” said Bryan Gast, Vice President of Investigative Services at Équité Association.
The 2018 F-150 (and F‑250, F‑350, and F‑450) series is at the top of the list, followed by the 2018 Honda CR-V series and the 2015 Chevrolet (and GMC Silverado and Sierra 1500, 2500, and 500) series.
The others include the 2019 Dodge/Ram (1500, 2500, 3500) series, the 2017 Lexus RX350 and RX450 Series, the 2019 Honda Civic series, and the 2019 Toyota Highlander series.
In eighth place is the 2017 Chrysler (along with the Dodge Town and Country, Grand Caravan and Voyager). In ninth is the 2017 Toyota Corolla series, and in tenth is the 2018 Honda Accord series.

The company said this year Équité highlighted a number of key trends in vehicle thefts—such as electronic auto theft, which it says is on the rise across the country because more vehicles are equipped with technologies like push button start.
Furthermore, a number of high-end SUVs continue to be stolen for export, while stolen vehicles are being given false vehicle identification numbers and sold to consumers that are unaware of the issue.
“The vehicles being stolen are commodity-based money laundering, where they’re being exchanged to fund organized crime and terrorism,” said Gast.
In Ontario, SUVs top the list of regional thefts by vehicle type, followed by sedans, pickups, and then vans. In Quebec, SUVs top the list while pickups are number one on the theft list in Alberta. In Atlantic Canada, sedans top the list but are closely followed by pickup trucks and then SUVs.
